This Sunday, the 22 strong fleet in this year's Battery World Winter Series will gear up for Race 4 of the 5-race series. Race 3 held on July 14th proved challenging, with competitors facing freezing temperatures and blustery conditions, resulting in a reduced fleet and a shake-up in the standings.
In Division 1, Tenacity Yachting (John Lawrie) leads in the PHS, IRC, and ORC categories. However, Wayne Banks-Smith's Farr 40, War Games, is determined to unseat them from the top spot in PHS, where both boats are currently tied with a series score of 7 points. Intrigue is also close behind in the IRC and ORC categories but will be unable to start Race 4 due to a major port-starboard collision in Race 3.
In Division 2, Prion Racing (Donovan Oak) continues to dominate, leading in PHS, IRC, and ORC categories. Having solidified their position at the top, they will be a formidable challenge for any rivals.
In Division 3 (PHS), Letoile (John Dawson) and Firefly (Jimmy Dodd) have distanced themselves from the rest of the fleet, with a 7-point gap now separating 2nd and 3rd place overall. The competition between these two boats is intense, with only 1 point separating Firefly from the overall lead.
Sunny conditions are forecast for Sunday’s race, with crisp NW winds expected for the early morning start of the penultimate race of the series. There’s still plenty of action to come!
