The Derwent Sailing Squadron welcomes applications for membership from anyone interested in sailing or boating in general.
In this historic but progressive club, membership offers a full program of sailing events, use of some outstanding sailing and clubhouse facilities and a lively social calendar.
Open to adults and entitles use of the club’s facilities, including renting or leasing a marina berth and hardstand/trailer park space, access to the launch ramp, slip and storage areas, as well as enjoying the hospitality in the clubhouse. Includes a $75 food and beverage voucher redeemable at the DSS.

Crew or Social Member
For non-boat owners and those wishing to make use of the clubhouse facilities. Yacht racing rules require all participants to be on the register of Yachting Australia (YA ) and to join YA crews must first join a YA affiliated club. Includes a $75 food and beverage voucher redeemable at the DSS.

Apply for membership
All applications must be proposed and seconded by a current Squadron member. The application is then considered by the club’s General Committee. Country, Non-Resident or Intermediate Member
Must, respectively, reside outside 30km of Hobart, outside of Tasmania, or be between the ages of 18 and 23. Entitles the member to use any of the club’s facilities, including boating facilities.

Full Members are able to nominate their spouse as an Associated Member to enjoy membership of the club on the same basis as Crew or Social Members.

Junior Member (under 18 years)
Rights of a Full Member excluding the ability to hold office or vote at the General Meetings. Junior Members may also join the club through a Family Membership.

A Veteran Member is a member who has attained the age of 60 years (or
in the event of a person who has retired then in the discretion of the Committee 55 years) and who has been a member of the Squadron for a period of not less than 20 years. All the rights and privileges of the Veteran Member’s prior category are retained.

Free membership for 28 days for those over the age of 18 who reside north of the 42nd parallel of latitude.
